After a 20-year absence, the Southern Arizona Home Builders Association is bringing back the prestigious Parade of Homes in February 2008. Seven SAHBA Certified Custom Home Builders will showcase their million-dollar homes in the foothills of Marana’s Tortolita Mountains.
The Parade of Homes is part of a 29 lot, 36-acre parcel being developed by Lex Sears. Each builder has approximately one acre to build their home, with an option for one additional lot in the development.
The dates are February 2-17 at “Sonoran Preserve on the Bajada,” located at Camino de Oeste and Moore Road.
Steve Canatsey, owner of Canatsey Building & Development, is chairing the event. He also chaired SAHBA’s last Parade in 1988. He said the event “will have a community-wide focus, not just for SAHBA and its members, but for the entire metro area. The timing of the Parade was strategically selected to coincide with four major events in the region.”
Those events are the Accenture Golf Tournament, Tucson Gem & Mineral Show, Tucson Rodeo, NFL Super Bowl in Glendale, and Major League Spring Training baseball.
In mid-February, a special POH Orientation meeting was held for all interested members. It provided Associate members with a chance to meet the builders and learn how they can participate in the event.
