March 15 Groundbreaking for SAHBA Parade of Homes in Marana

Tucson, AZ. (March 12, 2007) -- Groundbreaking ceremonies for the 2008 Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA) Parade of Homes were held 10 AM Wednesday, March 15, 2007, in the Town of Marana.
The Parade, set for February 2-17, 2008, will feature seven luxury homes built by seven SAHBA Certified Custom Home Builders. Each home will feature the latest in home design and technology, “green build” practices, and superior energy-efficiency standards. Each home will carry Southwest Gas’ Energy Star certification.
This is a unique designation to the SAHBA Parade of Homes project, marking the first time the Energy Star program has been available to a Tucson-area custom home project.
The homes will be built at Sonoran Preserve on the Bajada at Camino de Oeste and Moore Road in the Tortolita Mountain foothills. Sears Financial Corporation is the developer of the property.
The SAHBA Parade of Homes will be hosted February 2-17, 2008. The participating SAHBA Certified Custom Home Builders include: Bauer Homes, Ltd; Canatsey Building & Development Co. Inc; Becklin Construction LLC; Lathrem Homebuilders; JD Raney Construction; Casas Bonitas Development, LLC; and Washburn Custom Builders. Steve Canatsey, of Canatsey Building & Development, is chairing the event.
Dignitaries from the Marana Town Council, Marana Chamber of Commerce, and SAHBA participated in the ground-breaking ceremonies.
“These homes offer our SAHBA Certified Custom Builders an opportunity to showcase their very best designs. Visitors will experience first hand the latest in luxury home products, innovation and technology. The public will receive many imaginative ideas for interior designs and outdoor living,” said Steve Canatsey, chairman of the Parade’s Builder Committee.
SAHBA held its first Parade of Homes some 45 years ago, but has not hosted one since 1988. The Association has 750 members and represents over 40,000 industry-related jobs.
